This is Madison

Welcome to Madison Wisconsin! Madison is the Wisconsin State Capital and a truly beautiful city. You will enjoy Madison wether you’re strolling around downtown or a neighborhood, or visiting the University of Wisconsin campus or visiting the capital building, or taking in an art gallery. I got so many great photos of Madison, so I’ll show them in a few different posts.

Congress Theater

The Congress Theater building is located on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. It was built in 1926. It is a Chicago landmark currently under renovation. The theater block contained 17 retail storefronts which are now murals.

Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District – Oak Park

Architect Frank Lloyd Wright came to Oak Park in 1889. He built his studio there and designed 25 structures mostly in the historic district. There are also many other buildings designed by Prairie School architect Wright or his colleagues and students. Shown below are just a few, as well as other homes in the district. It’s important to note that simplicity and functionality of the Prairie School was a huge change from the ornate architecture of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Ukrainian Village is a Chicago neighborhood in the West Town community area on the near West side.
