Ukrainian Village is a Chicago neighborhood in the West Town community area on the near West side. Its boundaries are Division Street on the North, Grand Avenue to the South, Western Avenue to the West and Damen Avenue to the East. It is home to one of the largest Ukrainian communities in the U.S. It has been the focus of Ukrainian life since the beginning of the 20th century. The neighborhood boasts three Ukrainian churches, Ukrainian banks, Ukrainian language grammar school, the Ukrainian National Museum, Ukrainian Cultural Center, and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, as well as many Ukrainian owned restaurants, stores and businesses. On December 4, 2002 the Ukrainian Village District was designated as a Chicago Landmark District.
